I'm Brian and I've been fishing the local beaches of East Sussex for over 45 years and I'm a Level 2 Angling Trust qualified coach.
I was 12 when I nagged a schoolmate to take me fishing. A walk of several miles along a disused railway track took us to a local marsh where we fished a small stream that ran into the main river. My trip was rewarded with one small roach and I really was hooked!
After this, a number of the lads from school were invited to our local sea angling club to try fishing from our local beach. Most of us enjoyed it so much that the club set up a youth section for us. This was led by youth club leader and angling mentor Jim, I learned about beach fishing, bait collecting and much more.
About 8 years ago, together with angling colleagues, we started a new youth angling club. As part of that, I completed coaching courses with The Angling Trust. Since then I have been fortunate enough to have coached hundreds of people, both young and old.
